What Is SERMI?

From 1 April 2026, access to vehicle security systems from all major manufacturers in the UK will require official SERMI authorisation. Dartford Transmissions and Autocare Ltd is fully SERMI-approved, giving us authorised access to the security-related systems that matter most to vehicle owners in Dartford, Kent, and beyond.

What is SERMI?

SERMI, Security Related Repair and Maintenance Information, is a European regulation now enforced in the UK. It was introduced to ensure that only vetted, approved businesses can access sensitive vehicle security systems, protecting owners from theft, fraud and unauthorised tampering.

Before SERMI, access to these systems was largely unregulated for independent garages. That has now changed. If a garage is not SERMI approved, it will not have full, legitimate access to manufacturer-level security data.
